Together We Win

The Battle With Obesity

Total Obesity Care. One Practice. One Physician.

Most practices offer surgery or medication. We offer both — plus hormone therapy, nutrition support, and post-operative care — because obesity is a complex disease and a single tool rarely solves it. Valley Bariatric is unique in Arizona providing this full spectrum of obesity treatment under one roof.

Why This Matters

The way most bariatric practices are structured, patients have to choose a lane before they walk in the door. Surgery centers do surgery. Medical weight loss clinics prescribe GLP-1 medications. Neither has much to offer when the first path doesn't work or when the patient's needs are more complicated than one treatment can address.

We built Valley Bariatric differently. Dr. Brown performs the full range of bariatric procedures — sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y bypass, SADI-S, revisional surgery, and lap band removal — and manages GLP-1 medications, hormone replacement therapy, and physician-supervised weight loss through our Momentum program. When a patient plateaus on medication and needs to consider surgery, or when a post-operative patient needs medical support to maintain results, they don't start over with a new provider. They stay with us.

That continuity is not a minor convenience. It changes the quality of the decision-making. When the same physician knows your full history — your prior treatments, your metabolic labs, your surgical anatomy if you've had a procedure — the recommendations are better. There is no handoff, no retelling the story, no starting from scratch.

What We Treat

Obesity does not present the same way in every patient. Some people come to us having never tried any treatment. Some have been on GLP-1 medications for two years and are plateauing. Some had bariatric surgery elsewhere and are dealing with regain or complications. Some have type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, or hypertension that are driving the urgency more than the number on the scale. We see all of these patients, and we have a treatment path for each of them.

Our practice covers surgical weight loss, physician-supervised medical weight loss, GLP-1 management, hormone replacement therapy, post-operative nutrition support, and general surgery for obesity-related conditions including hernia repair, gallbladder disease, and hiatal hernia repair. We also perform robotic and laparoscopic general surgery procedures — because patients who have had bariatric surgery often develop conditions that require surgical management, and having a surgeon who already knows their anatomy matters.

Our Approach

We treat obesity as the chronic disease it is — which means we do not think of surgery or medication as a finish line. Both are interventions. What happens after the intervention is what determines long-term outcomes. We build follow-up into the model from the beginning, not as an afterthought. Lab monitoring, nutritional support, medication management, and access to Dr. Brown for questions are part of every treatment path we offer.

We also do not steer patients toward treatments they do not need. A patient who is a good candidate for GLP-1 therapy gets that recommendation. A patient whose clinical picture calls for surgery gets that recommendation. The practice offers both, which means neither recommendation is driven by what happens to generate more revenue. That is how we think the conversation should go.
